Amazon’s Continuous Cloud Re-architecture group is looking for a passionate, results-oriented, inventive and influential technical leader to lead our worldwide efforts to define and drive a secure, cloud-embracing enterprise development environment for the tens of thousands of developers that build technology for Amazon's retail customers.

The Continuous Cloud Re-architecture org is looking for an engineering leader to be responsible for a range of critical, software development frameworks that form the very foundation of Amazon's distributed web-services architecture, used by tens of thousands of remote services that comprise our Retail businesses, as well as forming the foundation of many of the largest and most visible public AWS services.

Almost every corner of Amazon's technology stack, from subsidiaries like Audible and Zappos, to our Consumer Retail Websites around the world (www.amazon.*), Kindle and AWS itself all depend (knowingly or not), on our technology in one way or another to build their software and run their business.

You will need to be able to communicate clearly with senior leaders across the company as easily as you can convey key technical ideas and directions to engineers at all levels. You will have strong bias for action and a history of delivering the right results, a critical asset to ensure that Amazon will be able to continue to leverage new cloud technologies as they become available and to keep abreast of other innovation that's happening across our businesses outside of AWS.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
    • Hands-on software development experience with large-scale Internet-facing systems
    • Experience managing a team of software development managers and senior engineers
    • A passion for people management and mentorship; hiring and developing great people
    • Able to balance technical leadership with sound business judgment
    • Knowledge of full life-cycle software engineering practices including coding standards, testing, software configuration management, and operations
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences
    • Comfortable handling multiple challenging priorities in a dynamic environment

Amazon is an Equal Opportunity-Affirmative Action Employer – Minority / Female / Disability / Veteran / Gender Identity / Sexual Orientation

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MS in Computer Science (or equivalent)
    • Experience with analytics and handling large data sets
    • Experience with security technologies
    • Experience with large distributed systems
