    AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is looking for a Software Development Manager to own our next-generation VPC control plane. You will be responsible for growing the service to handle new use-cases and new scale. You will grow a team of strong engineers and guide them through their careers. You will have a voice in the technical and business direction of the service and the team.

    The ideal candidate is passionate about finding the right solution for each challenge. This leader has experience delivering high quality technical products or services in an environment with shifting priorities. The ideal candidate is a leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and who understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence within a team. EC2 operates at very large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. A high level of ownership and accountability is a must.

    Basic Qualifications

    • BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
    • A minimum of 3-5 years of software development, and a similar amount in software management experience.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing and developing direct reports (performance review communication, accountability, motivation/engagement)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • MS in Computer Science or related field
    • Technically sound in software development activities and life cycles.
    • Experience with large scale distributed systems.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytic and problem solving skills.
    • Knowledge of Networking (TCP/IP) fundamentals.
    • Internet and operating system security fundamentals.
