Job Description

We’re looking for tech-savvy, prolific, pop culture-loving writers who aren’t afraid to get silly. Come help create fun and funny, timely and engaging content just for kids. This unique, challenging position is both a highly creative and a process-driven role. We want our customers to love our products (that’s right, we said love!), and we achieve that by providing delightful experiences with our content, whether it be a quirky daily greeting, a joke, an original song or story, or some wacky combination of these things.

You should be: an empathetic and skillful writer who always knows the right way to say something (and can write it quickly). You should have: a passion for pop culture, knowledge of what’s cool with the kids, an upbeat sense of humor, and an unbridled curiosity about the world. A love of science and super heroes doesn’t hurt. Since much of this job has never been done before, the unknown shouldn’t scare you--in fact it should make you excited to come to work every day. You should be prepared to create process where none exists, then use that process to see what cool new experiences you can build next. You’ll also be working closely with other writers to brainstorm, edit, and enhance each other’s work.

This highly visible role works closely with senior leaders, marketing and PR, product managers, and developers, so you must be able to play well with others in a fast-moving work environment. You should be as comfortable analyzing data to help drive editorial decisions as you are at writing knock-knock jokes, and be skilled at writing in the voice of a character. Professional experience in script or fiction writing, and/or journalism for 5+ years strongly preferred.

  • 5+ years of demonstrated, analytical, data-based approach to problem solving and a track record of driving results and shipping content.
  • Professional portfolio of content that includes humorous and creative content
  • Experience presenting to and effectively advising senior management

  • Experience with writing and/or deep knowledge of kids literature and related pop culture
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
