  • Job Description

    The Amazon Devices Demo Experience team is building a new system to make it easy for third-party retailers to set up, manage, and monitor smart home in-store demonstrations of Amazon devices, third-party smart home devices, and Alexa Voice Service (AVS) enabled devices to enable retail customers to experience the magic of Alexa.

    As a Principal TPM on the Demo Experience team, you will independtly lead this broad cross-organization global effort from the early stages through release. You will partner with all levels of leadership across Echo, Tablet, and FireTV device software and marketing teams, Amazon direct and indirect sales teams around the world, AWS, and Alexa teams to lead this new three-year cross-organization global initiative. You will be responsible for influencing organization roadmap priorities, system owners, and technical direction. You will represent difficult trade-off decisions and solutions clearly to leaders up to 3 levels above to help them understand decisions and options. You will leverage your technical knowledge to drive technical trade-off decisions. You will be able to identify when a technical solution requires additional technical guidance. You will manage cross-functional and cross-organization communication to ensure all stakeholders are informed, and needs are aligned. You will guide the technical direction and decisions to deliver a solution that meets Amazon high standards for customer satisfaction, efficiency, stability, extensibility, simplicity, and operational excellence. You will amplify your impact by educating TPMs around you on program management best-practices and will be actively involved mentoring more junior team members.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field
    • 10+ years of experience delivering results on complex, technical products or services
    • A deep understanding of the software development process, and a proven track record of shipping software quickly, then iterating on the experience
    • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions
    • Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the products, our business, and the technical landscape
    • Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels across multiple business units.
    • Experience working with external technology partners and enterprise customers.
    • Experience building processes, project management, and release schedules.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Masters Degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
    • Experience building solutions for home networks, IoT device and cloud systems, or home/industrial control systems.
    • Experience defining and championing best practices across a software team.
    • High degree of comfort presenting to senior management, business stakeholders, and external partners.
