Amazon Elastic File System (EFS) https://aws.amazon.com/efs/ is built in Cambridge, MA and launched into General Availability in 2016. EFS is a fully managed service that makes it easy to set up and scale shared file storage in the AWS Cloud. Amazon EFS is designed for a wide variety of use cases including data analytics, video rendering, genomics analysis, web serving, content management, container storage, and home directories, to name a few.

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a team designing and building services and features that allow customers to create cloud storage solutions that are secure, reliable, completely elastic, and scalable to petabyte-scale and beyond. Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years experience in commercial or web-scale system software development and delivery
  • 5+ years of experience building, leading, managing, and mentoring high-performance teams
  • Proficiency in a programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Scala, Python)
  • Understanding of operating system fundamentals (Linux or Windows)
  • Deep understanding of scalable computing systems, architectures, data structures, and algorithms
  • Proficiency in network, distributed, asynchronous, and concurrent programming
  • Experience implementing scalable full lifecycle software engineering practices
  • Proven track record of iteratively delivering high quality software on time
  • Demonstrated passion for leadership, management, and mentoring
  • Possession of strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possession of strong analytical skills, with excellent problem solving abilities in the face of ambiguity

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Agile/SCRUM enterprise-scale software development
  • Experience developing system software, distributed file systems and data networking offerings
  • Knowledge of storage solutions
  • Working knowledge of storage performance challenges and their solutions
  • Proficient in network, distributed, asynchronous and concurrent programming
  • Familiar with building secure software and security algorithms
  • Experience building and operating scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems
  • Knowledge of storage protocols and file system architecture
  • Understanding of storage performance challenges and their solutions
  • Familiarity with building secure software using modern security principles
  • Experience building and operating scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment
  • Experience developing a product vision
